NOTIFICATION SYSTEM FOR UBUNTU
The goal of this project was to simplify and modernize the notification experience across Ubuntu devices. Working closely with a UX designer, we redesigned the notification framework to create a more coherent and predictable system across applications and devices.
The project focused on unifying notification behavior, consolidating alerts into a centralized location, and improving cross-device synchronization. The result was a more consistent and manageable experience that reduced interruption fatigue while ensuring users remained informed across their ecosystem.
ROLE
Visual Designer
DESIGN APPROACH
I led the visual and motion design strategy to transform a fragmented notification landscape into a harmonious user experience. I designed high-fidelity templates that balanced Ubuntu’s brand identity with functional clarity, focusing on information hierarchy to reduce cognitive load. A key part of my role was defining the choreography of motion—designing purposeful animations for arrival, dismissal, and cross-device syncing. These transitions provided critical feedback to the user, making the 'handshake' between devices feel instantaneous and reliable.
